A direct message was sent to the team’s specified Twitter account.
A sand model depicting a Lutheran Education Value was created at a beach.
Five low resolution photos were taken of construction and then emailed to a specified address.
A final photo to was uploaded to a specified album in Flickr.

General Setup
· Each car was made up of a team of 4-5 people. There were 25 teams in total. The 25 teams were organised into 4 groups (6 teams in a group).
· Each group were given 5 tasks in differently ordered sequences. Each group of 6 teams were allocated the same sequence of tasks.
· The rally took 3½ hours to complete. It was emphasised that it was not a race and for participants to take care on the roads.
· Tasks for the event were revealed throughout the rally. The first task was sent via gmail to participants. Subsequent tasks were directed from an control team at the base (St John’s Lutheran Primary School, Bundaberg).
· A laptop with a Telstra Next G card for internet access was provided to each team. Some sponsor-provided digital cameras were allocated to teams and some teams used their own cameras. A mobile phone number was nominated for each team for some tasks to be sent via SMS.
· gmail, Flickr, YouTube and Twitter accounts were set up for each team prior to the event.
TASK 1
The technology and skills used in this task were Google Maps, a digital camera, saving a jpg file, inserting a photo in a MS Word document, web mail and emailing an attachment.
The task was gmailed to all groups as they began their journey.
The 25 teams were dispersed from base in 25 directions (to a specified street).
Google Maps was used to locate the team’s specified street.
Teams took a low resolution photo of themselves including the street sign and displaying one of the 10 Lutheran Values . At least 3 members and the street sign had to be clearly displayed.
The photo was then downloaded and saved on a laptop. A MS Word document was created including the photo and an explanation of the value being depicted.
The document was then emailed from the web mail account supplied to each team to the car rally control team.

Teams were sent details of the task via SMS to the team’s nominated mobile telephone number.
1. A drive thru fast food outlet was located using Google Maps.
2. A particular item was ordered depending on the choice of outlet:
· A Cheeseburger without cheese, meat or salad; or
· A Whopper without cheese, meat or salad; or
· A Twister without chicken; or
· A Crispy Fillet Burger without salad, cheese or chicken.
3. A digital camera was used to create a short, low resolution video of the driver ordering the selected item. The file size was not to be any more than 6mb.
4. The video file was then uploaded to YouTube using the account allocated to each team.

Twittering by all throughout the Event
Throughout the rally, teams were required to use Twitter to communicate and/or to meet up with other groups and/or to ask questions. Teams continually scanned web mail, Twitter and mobile telephones for information on their next task. The rally was followed by various people from organisations around Australia and assisting with the judging of the event.
